Word is going around Fleet Street about a Premiership player who has blown £1million at a casino in one night´s drink fuelled excess- mostly playing roulette and poker. The star has managed to put a gaging order on the Fleet Street hacks to prevent any newspapers disclosing his name. This kind of behaviour in the current economic climate would not be a great advert for either the player or their football club.
Fellow punters at the casino watched with mouth agape as the famous player ignored the usual advice of"don´t drink and gamble" by blowing a small fortune at the tables. The multi-millionaire player, a regular in the England team, had been on the sauce prior to hitting the roulette and poker tables. The star frequents the casinos in his home town and had bad nights before- but only to the tune of £50 grand or so. But even he was sobered by the amount of his latest loss.
The vodka and £200 bottles of champagne seemd to have had a detrimental affect on this player´s judgement.
A spokesman, who refused to be named due to the strict confidentiality policy of the casino, said: "These guys earn ridiculous amounts, it's like Monopoly money to them. Players have too much time on their hands. Drive them to a casino after a night on the lash and it´s an early Christmas for the casino."
